I just cleaned this album on my VPI 16.5 record cleaner and then played it on my Rega Planar P1.

This is an original recording from 1939 and it sounds 15-20 years ahead of its time. The pressing is quite good with a few pops and crackles and I would give it a 7-7.5 out of ten, but I would step it up to an 8 or so as this sound striping recording is truly cutting edge.

I just read the liner notes and I was right about this album sounding 15-20 years ahead of its time as it was. It was not an original recording, but followed the original score and was recorded in the latter 1950s. Interesting aside: my paternal great aunt who was from Atlanta did a screen test for "Gone With The Wind." I'm suspecting it was for Vivienne Leigh's role as she looked so much like Patricia O'Neil and sounded like Tallulah Bankhead...
